Comparative Analysis
Gold ETFs took ~5 years to reach their first inflection point (~$60-70B) during the 2008-2009 financial crisis,
after which AUM accelerated dramatically to $130B by late 2012. Bitcoin ETFs reached that same nominal level in
under 12 months. However, the BTC ETF curve shows high sensitivity to underlying asset volatility (the Oct 2025 peak
of $170B pulled back to ~$96B by Mar 2026). If BTC follows a similar S-curve pattern but compressed in time,
the current consolidation near ~$100B could represent the base-building phase before the next leg higher
— analogous to Gold ETFs in the 2007-2008 range before their post-GFC acceleration.
